In a strategic move signaling growth and development in Cork, the local firm EPH Controls has recently invested €1 million in acquiring a high-profile site adjacent to the N40 roundabout and flyover on Kinsale Road. This acquisition places EPH Controls at the heart of one of Cork’s most visible locations, traversed by approximately 100,000 vehicles daily, showcasing the company’s ambitious expansion plans.
The site, spanning three acres at the terminus of Kinsale Road, was previously considered by Carey Tools and the Kerry Group for their respective developments but has now found a new proprietor in EPH Controls. Founded in 1997 by the Casey family, who are also associated with South Coast Sales, EPH Controls is laying the groundwork for constructing a new facility that will serve as the cornerstone of their operations.
Previously, Carey Tools had acquired the site from JCD Group with the intention of relocating from their Albert Quay and Albert Road locations. JCD Group, after purchasing Carey Tools original site, secured permission for the development of substantial office and apartment buildings, further catalyzing the urban redevelopment of Cork. Carey Tools however, decided against developing the Kinsale Road site, opting instead for a facility in Doughcloyne Industrial Estate, thus continuing the chain of property exchanges within Cork’s dynamic commercial landscape. They now operate a huge store of Garden tools, Power tools and so much more at Doughcloyne Industrial Estate.
This new development by EPH Controls not only signifies the company’s growth trajectory but also highlights the ongoing transformation of Cork city’s periphery into a bustling hub of commercial activity. With Tramore Valley Park now accessible nearby and several large-scale developments in the pipeline, including hotel and apartment projects at the base of Airport Hill/Kinsale Road, EPH Controls’ new site is poised to become a focal point of development and innovation.
